Ceremony Marking the Groundbreaking of Sany Group's Indonesia Industrial Park Phase II Project
2025-09-18
On September 12, at Indonesia's KIM Industrial Park, Sany Group's Indonesian "Lighthouse Factory" unveiled its latest milestone—officially laying the foundation for Phase II of the Sany Indonesia Industrial Park.

▲On September 12, Mao Weiming, Deputy Secretary of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Hunan Province, Agus Kardjasmidja, Indonesian Minister of Industry, Xiang Wenbo, Co-Chairman of Sany Group and Chairman of Sany Heavy Industry, and Qu Hai, Secretary-General of the Hunan Provincial Government, jointly laid the foundation stone for the second-phase project of Sany Indonesia Industrial Park.
Why establish a presence in Indonesia? What is the strength and appeal of "Made in Hunan"?

Sany Indonesia's "Lighthouse Factory" is the first "smart factory" established by Sany Group overseas. Phase I broke ground in March 2020 with a total investment of 200 million yuan, primarily producing 13- to 55-ton excavators tailored for the Southeast Asian market, with an annual production capacity of 3,000 units.
The company leader explained that Indonesia was the "best choice" after careful consideration by the firm.
First, Indonesia boasts tremendous economic development potential—its population ranks fourth largest, it is rich in mineral resources, and there is a significant demand for construction machinery and equipment.
Secondly, as the hub of ASEAN, Indonesia can leverage the establishment of a "Lighthouse Factory" here to serve as a central point, enabling coverage across the entire ASEAN region as well as areas like Australia and New Zealand. This will further bolster Sany Group's global expansion strategy and contribute to the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Additionally, the construction of the "Lighthouse Factory" brings advanced manufacturing technologies to Indonesia, accelerates local talent development, and elevates the competitiveness of the industry chain, innovation chain, and value chain.
On August 15, 2022, the first "Made in Indonesia" excavator rolled off the production line at the "Lighthouse Factory," showcasing the "Sany Speed"—completing everything from equipment installation and debugging to product rollout within just 30 days.

The person in charge explained that this factory integrates the core achievements of Sany's several "Lighthouse Factories" across China and is built according to Industry 4.0 standards. Compared with other overseas bases, Sany Indonesia's "Lighthouse Factory" has been entirely led by Sany's domestic team—from its design and planning stages, through plant construction and equipment commissioning, all the way to overall operational management.
The first-phase factory is equipped with approximately 200 units of various intelligent devices, yet employs only about 100 workers. It achieves an annual output value exceeding 2 billion yuan, with each employee contributing around 20 million yuan in annual output—making it one of China's overseas factories with the highest per capita output and the greatest level of automation in the construction machinery industry.
Thanks to its proactive deployment at the "Lighthouse Factory," Sany has rapidly grown into Indonesia's largest construction machinery enterprise. To date, Sany products have generated sales exceeding 20 billion RMB in Indonesia, with a fleet of more than 24,000 units in operation. The company has been involved in nearly every major engineering project in the country, while also creating over 2,000 local employment opportunities.

Phase one is progressing smoothly, so we naturally feel more confident about investing in phase two.
The second-phase project of the Sany Indonesia Industrial Park, which has just begun construction, features a total investment of US$150 million and spans 105 mu of land. It will primarily produce equipment such as excavators and wide-body vehicles, with an output value expected to reach RMB 5 billion—and will create more than 2,000 new jobs.

Compared to Phase I, the second phase of the Sany Indonesia Industrial Park is not only larger in scale but also smarter, primarily in these aspects—
By leveraging an automated material distribution system and digital production management, we achieve automatic material requisition for production orders and unmanned vehicle-based delivery.
Through the digital twin system, a digital factory is established in the cloud, enabling real-time data collection and seamless data integration with SANY’s Global Production Control Center and the "Root Cloud" platform powered by Shugen Interconnect. This ensures that the most powerful computing resources are matched to every single production process, each machine model, and even every individual cutting tool.
Through the process simulation system, production processes are simulated and optimized, confirming the process route and guiding actual production, thereby enabling the systematic overseas deployment of intelligent manufacturing solutions in the construction machinery industry.
Through the intelligent manufacturing operations management system, more than ten digital systems—including product lifecycle management, product supply standards, and supply chain management—are integrated, complemented by automated production equipment, thereby enhancing the智能化 level of manufacturing.
Sany stated that it will apply its domestic "Smart Empowerment for Ten Thousand Enterprises" experience to the second-phase project of the Sany Indonesia Industrial Park, building Indonesia's first "smart factory." This initiative aims to establish an internationally competitive platform rooted in Indonesia, serving Southeast Asia while reaching out globally—ultimately setting a benchmark for Chinese enterprises "going global" and serving as a model for win-win cooperation between China and Indonesia.
Currently, the "Smart Empowerment for Ten Thousand Enterprises" initiative is in full swing in Hunan, aiming to establish 1,000 smart manufacturing enterprises, develop 3,000 smart manufacturing production lines (workshops), and equip 15,000 intelligent workstations. Leading Hunan-based smart manufacturing companies, exemplified by Sany, are leveraging the momentum of this initiative to accelerate their growth trajectory, driving innovation and transformation while propelling advanced technologies, standards, and products to international markets. In doing so, they are contributing significantly to the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
